Making your computer boot from the CD
In general your computer is probably already setup to boot from the CD rom drive. If it doesn't then the following may help you.
# Restart your computer.
# Notice what appears on the display before it starts booting into your
current operating system, generally there will be a message like "Press
Del to enter setup". It may not be the Del key and may say "Press F2 to
enter setup" either way find out what you need to press and get into
your computer setup screen. The setup screen is also known as the BIOS.
# In the setup you need to find the section relating to "bootable devices" or "boot order".
# Read the information displayed in the BIOS, this will tell you how to make changes.
# You need to change the "boot order" so that your CD/DVD drive is the
first boot device and your HDD(hard disk drive) is the second boot
device.
# When you have changed this you need to save the changes and restart
the computer. This is normally done by pressing the Esc key and telling
the setup to exit and save the changes.
# When your computer reboots it will check to see if a bootable disc is
in the CD/DVD drive and if it is it will give you the option of booting
from the CD/DVD.
# Generally if you do not confirm that you wish to boot from the CD/DVD drive the computer will continue to boot from the HDD.
# So you need to keep an eye on the messages displayed as the computer boots up.
